The National Executive Council (NEC) of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), led by Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, has constituted a nine (9) member caretaker committee in its Cross River State Chapter to be headed by Comrade Great Ogban.
This was contained in a press release signed by the President of NYCN, Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, made available to the Media on Monday. According to Amb. Sukubo, the constitution of NYCN abhors vacuum. The statement reads in part;
“The Leadership of the National Executive Council (NEC) having carefully x-rayed the
circumstances of the Cross River State Chapter Council, and in line with the provision of
our constitution, bothering on automatic dissolution and the need to setup the caretaker
committee to avoid vacuum in the leadership of the State Chapter Council hereby resolves
as follows:
a) That the State Executive Council whose tenure expires yesterday 20th of June, 2024,
in line with article ten (10) and other relevant sections is hereby dissolved.
b) That a nine (9) member caretaker committee comprising of the underlisted persons
is hereby put in place”.
Attached is the official press release letter signed by the President of NYCN, Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo.
It was gathered that the above directive from the President of NYCN was as a result of the inability of the outgone State Executive Council of NYCN Cross River Chapter, led by Comrade Dan Obo Jnr., to conduct an elective congress to usher in a new set of Executives before the expiration of their tenure. Owing to the official directive from the office of the State Security Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State, which barred the NYCN from holding an elective congress formerly slated to take place on the 19th of June 2024, the Dan Obo led Executive was unable to conduct an elective congress. This led to the automatic dissolution of the Dan Obo led Executive.
